Andreas Wagener has served the Institute for Economic Policy (formerly Social Policy) of Leibniz Universität Hannover as Director since 2006. From 2011 to 2013, he was the dean of the faculty of economics. He brought great vigor and enthusiasm to many committees of the faculty and the university. Andreas Wagener was spokesman and project leader in several projects of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) and other research initiatives. After completing his doctorate and habilitation at the University of Siegen, he became a professor at University of Vienna in 2003, to which he remained a loyal guest professor. Andreas Wagener was also a research professor at the Ifo Institute in Munich.
The institute loses an outstanding personality, an innovative thinker, an inspiring discussion partner and a trusted friend and colleague. We will greatly miss him, his encouraging words, and his humor.
